Between the walls and the river
Holubová, Ivana ; Plášil, Jiří (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The aim of this project was to design residential architecture that combines the urban character of the historic center of Vyškov with the natural character of the Haná River. The dominant feature of the de-signed area is a wavy row of family houses (each with 1 to 3 units), divided into two parts by a small squ-are, which is oriented towards areas for services and also includes an existing public transport stop. From this open space, a newly designed bridge extends over the river. A promenade meanders betwe-en the river and the proposed residential area, incorporating the river into the concept and creating a point of interest not only for the city's residents. Each house has a small garden area facing the river. The apartments are complemented by spacious terraces with views of the river. The design includes a three-story parkhouse to divert cars from view and free up surface space. The first floor of the parkhou-se is reserved for an existing restaurant. All the proposed houses respond to the native shapes of the surrounding buildings (2 to 4 floors, pitched roof, terraced houses), but with a modern twist. The main architectural feature is the recessed facades facing the river, covered with wood to emphasize the na-tural character of the location, while the rest of the facades are designed with classic plaster, corre-sponding to the urban expression of the surrounding buildings.
